You need two things, a functioning 3D printer and a model to print. Where to get these things? And which 3D printer should you get?<\/p>\n<p>The first 3D printer I bought was a <a class=\"has-link-meta\" href=\"https:\/\/www.digitec.ch\/de\/s1\/product\/ultimaker-2-extended-3d-drucker-5694796?shid=2022460\" data-title=\"Ultimaker 2+ Extended\" data-desc=\"My first 3d printer I bought and used for almost the last 10 years. It's now in new hands, but will always have a place in my heart. If only the nozzle changes didn't take so long and it had auto bed leveling. But when it was calibrated right, it worked pretty well.\" data-img=\"https:\/\/www.robinglauser.ch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Ultimaker-2-Extended-2.jpg_sea-300x300.jpeg\">Ultimaker 2+ Extended<\/a> for a hefty sum, back when I still had money. It worked pretty well when calibrated and I was able to print a lot of things with it.<\/p>\n<p>But it was getting old so I was looking for a more modern printer, as the newer ones are pretty cheap in comparison to my old one and have a lot more features.<\/p>\n<p>So I recently switched to a <a class=\"has-link-meta\" href=\"https:\/\/bambulab.com\/de-de\/a1\" data-title=\"Bambu Lab A1.\" data-desc=\"The new printer I got just recently, it's pretty fast, does a lot of things automatically and you can even start prints from afar. Currently it would be my recommendation if you want to get started with 3d printing.\" data-img=\"https:\/\/www.robinglauser.ch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/bambu-lab-a1-1-stk-700537-de.png\">Bambu Lab A1.<\/a> It has a lot of useful features such as automatic bed leveling, switching the nozzle isn&#8217;t a half hour+ job and printing from your smartphone (You can be on the train home and start the print and when you get home it&#8217;s finished) or laptop.<\/p>\n<p>So if I were in your shoes I&#8217;d get a Bambu Lab A1 or<a class=\"has-link-meta\" href=\"https:\/\/bambulab.com\/de-de\/a1-mini\" data-title=\"A1 mini\" data-desc=\"The smaller version of the A1. I was also looking at buying this one, as it was cheaper, but in the end I wanted to be able to print bigger things. If you just want to print small stamps, this might be a good option though and also takes less space.\" data-img=\"https:\/\/www.robinglauser.ch\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/ef2cd723-cd28-421a-9ce1-93b4aa4f3455_cropped.jpg_2880.avif\"> A1 mini<\/a> if you don&#8217;t want to get too technical and just need a magic machine that takes 3D files and makes real objects out of it.<\/p>\n<p>However it&#8217;s still a machine, needs maintenance and some knowledge.
